Seven areas have been covered, for example beach side accommodation, snorkelling tours and sea gypsies, and hundreds of local Lanta people have been interviewed by the students.
After collecting the data they wanted to present their findings to the local community as well as ask for clarifications and additional information. This was done by inviting Lanta residents to a meeting where we listened to their presentations and participated in the discussions initiated by the students.
LILS helped by translating between the students and the local people as well as answering a lot of interview questions. The research project brought up many interesting questions about how to improve different areas of the tourism sector on Koh Lanta and we believe that the new input that came up during the meeting will add energy to the continuous work that is done locally to improve Koh Lanta.
We would like to thank the students and professors of NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences for their hard work and we are looking forward to reading your reports. We would also like to wish you the best of luck in your future careers. Hope to see you on Lanta again!
